The Choir of the Trinity-St Sergius Moscow Representation

Vladimir Aleksandrovich Gorbik has served as the Head Conductor of the Choirs of the Moscow Representation* of the Holy Trinity Sergius Lavra since 1996. The Male Choir is famous the world over, and this ensemble sings at the services of the Monastery Church and the Patriarchal services in the cathedrals of the Moscow Kremlin. It also performs in concerts at the finest venues around Moscow and abroad. 

The choir has been lovingly developed and led for over twenty years by this world-renowned musician.

Vladimir Alexandrovich Gorbik graduated from the Moscow Conservatory as a choir conductor in 1998, and as an orchestral conductor and composer in 2000. His repertoire includes sacred music of different styles and eras, as well as both choral and symphonic classics.

He has brought up an entire generation of talented directors, regularly gives concerts all over the world, conducts master classes in singing and conducting, and teaches.

In 2004 and 2008, his choir sang at the inaugurations of both recent presidents of Russia - Vladimir Putin and Dmitry Medvedev.

In 2013 he co-founded the Patriarch Tikhon Russian-American Music Institute, which has since achieved choral excellence in both Russia and the United States with two GRAMMY-nominated recordings for its own organization, and other GRAMMY nominations for collaborative projects with other extraordinary American singers and musicians.

For his contribution to the development of church singing in Russia, Vladimir Gorbik was awarded a number of church awards: the Patriarchal Diploma of Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia, the Medal of St. Sergius of Radonezh II degree, the medal of the Holy Right-Believing Prince Daniel of Moscow.

In 2019, for his choir's recording of the sacred music of Pavel Chesnokov, "Teach me Thy Statutes," Vladimir Alexandrovich was nominated for the prestigious Grammy award. This disc, sung and recorded at the Saratov Theological Seminary in Saratov, Russia, featured a male choir comprising forty-one singers from Russia, the United States and Canada, all united to create this masterpiece. 

Many excellent recordings of sacred music performed by him are published in Russia, the USA and Germany and are known all over the world.

Vladimir Gorbik has recorded fifteen CDs with The Trinity - St. Sergius Moscow Representation Male Choir,

two CDs with American seminarians' choirs, two CDs with the Patriarch Tikhon Russian-American Music Institute Choirs (mixed and male), and one disc with the "Word (Слово)" Male Choir.

He is a renowned musician through his CDs, which are published  in the USA, Germany and Russia.

After publishing many of his CDs outside Russia Vladimir Gorbik was invited by Dr. Vladimir Morosan and Dr. Nicholas Reeves to lead his first Master Class at St. Vladimirs Seminary, Crestwood, NY, in June, 2012. He has led many of his choral masterclasses and one orchestral masterclass over the last 8 years in the United States.

* A 'Representation' is an "embassy" of a prominent monastery or a church jurisdiction in a location separate from the home locale. In it one can expect to see, hear and experience the tradition of the original monastery or jurisdiction.
